Classes & Programs

At VCC, we believe church life means so much more than attending a worship service.  It's about encountering God in new and meaningful ways.  It's about forming lasting friendships.  It's about caring for the people around us.  It's about growing - personally, spiritually, and emotionally.

To experience these aspects of church life, it's important to 'get connected.'  What does that really mean?  Well, it includes getting to know the church and what it's like, making new friends, and participating in activities that interest you.  Here at the Vineyard, we've tried to make that simple for you.  Here are a few easy ways
to get connected through various groups, classes, and other opportunities.

+1 Events: These are gatherings designed to build community in our church – best to be experienced by you AND a friend (+1).  So by all means, bring others along!

Javaflix
Javaflix is a movie discussion group that brings together people from different backgrounds to share in the common bond of movies.  Javaflix is held every second Saturday of the month.  7:30 PM at the VCC Office and Cultural Center.  For more information go to www.javaflix.com or contact George Dougherty at dougherty.george@gmail.com.

Lunch for 4
On select Sundays after the church service, groups of 4 have lunch together to get to know each other. It's a great opportunity to share a meal and be with a group of folks you might not normally interact with.  For more information contact Rachael Sutliff at rachaelsutliff@gmail.com.

Faith on Tap

Spiritual discussion without the religious hangover. Curious? Stay tuned for our next Happy Hour series @ Devil's Alley Bar + Grill (1907 Chestnut St). Grab a drink, say what you think, or just kick back and listen. We'll trade stories, ask questions, and have a good time.   For more information contact Brad Zinn at brad@vccwestphilly.org.

Classes: At the Vineyard, we strongly believe that “everyone gets to play” in the life of the church  – not just a select few.  With this in mind, we’ve crafted various classes designed to help you get involved in the things we’re passionate about at VCC.

ALPHA
ALPHA is a 7-week class about faith and Jesus.  The class is designed to help if (1) you are curious about Jesus and how Jesus might fit into a faith journey, (2) interested in a life of faith but consider yourself relatively new to it, or (3) are simply interested in learning or reviewing some basic information about Christian spirituality.    ALPHA provides ample opportunity to ask any and all questions and discuss them with a consistent group of people in an open, honest, and welcoming environment.  Each evening includes dinner, a short talk or presentation, and a group discussion.  There is no cost for ALPHA.  Contact (215)382-1130 or brad@vccwestphilly.org for more details.  The next course starts February 10, 2008 and meets weekly.

Vineyard 101: Discovering Membership
This two-hour class is specifically designed for people interested in learning more about our church, our history, vision, and values.  This course is required for membership and a prerequisite for Vineyard 201.  Next class: March 9

Vineyard 201:  Essentials of Following Jesus
The four week course will examine some of the fundamentals of growth in Jesus – practical tools for prayer and Bible study, insight into how to pursue the kind of spiritual and emotional healing that can free you into deeper growth in God, and a look at the life habits that God promises to bless.  Each class runs approximately two hours and will be held at the VCC Office & Cultural Center after Sunday church services.  Prerequisite: Vineyard 101.

Prayer Ministry 101
If you’re looking for more experiences of life-changing prayer, then consider attending this three-hour class that will help you foster a more intimate connection with God.  The class is run as a workshop with plenty of practical opportunities to learn how to hear and to discern God’s voice.  It will cover topics such as: Does God speak today?  How does God speak to me?  How do I know it’s God speaking and not me?  How to receive and interpret prayer-pictures and dreams?  How can I hear God’s voice for others?  Prayer Ministry 101 is a pre-requisite for joining our prayer ministry team.

Worship 101
This course explores the fundamentals of being a worshiper and leading others in worship.  The class combines a biblical examination of worship along with some practical tips on leading it.  Worship 101 is open to anyone, but particularly geared towards those who are interested in participating in worship ministries (i.e. small group and/or Sunday service worship leading).  Contact Jason Peifer for more details: ( 215) 382-1130  or jason@vccwestphilly.org
.  Next class: April 19, 2008, 10 AM
