Faith In Action

We love living in Philly! This city is in the heart of our church…but living in a city and carrying it in our hearts is not enough. We want to be an active part of the life and health of the city by contributing whatever financial, human, and spiritual resources are available to us. Below we’ve listed some of the ways that we are investing in our local community on an ongoing basis with organizations outside our church, along with information about how you can get involved.

Bethesda Project:  The first Saturday of the month, we partner with Bethesda Project  (a local homeless shelter) to help feed over 200 homeless men lunch.  We need people to help cook, serve, laugh, clean, connect, and shop.  Interested?  Contact Melody at mboyd@temple.edu.

Friends of Clark Park:  FoCP is a local community organization that helps to take care of one of the centerpieces of our University City community, Clark Park.  We often volunteer with them at work days designed to maintain and beautify the park.  Interested?  Contact Brad at brad@vccwestphilly.org.

Special Projects:  We often put together special projects that invest in the community around us.  Whether its something simple like picking-up trash around the neighborhood, delivering food baskets for Thanksgiving, hosting a Christmas store with deeply discounted toys, or a fall fun-day for kids in the local park ... we always welcome people to help out! It's a fun way to get to know new people and bring a little bit of hope to the world around us.  Check your bulletin for opportunities like these throughout the year.
